The origin of the polo shirt

Seven-time Grand Slam champion, René Lacoste, designed the shirt at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries as an alternative to the classic men's tennis kit: awkward button-down shirts with long sleeves that rolled up on almost every swing of the racket.
