2025/26 Ski Jumping World Cup – where are the competitions taking place?
The 2025/26 Ski Jumping World Cup is a series of competitions held by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation. Unlike most major sports tournaments, such as the Men's Volleyball World Championship, in this case the competitions are held in different countries each year rather than in one host country.
In this year’s World Cup, ski jumpers will compete in 9 countries and 19 localities, primarily in Europe. The exception is Japan with a competition in Sapporo. The athletes were also scheduled to fly to the United States, but due to hill repairs, the competition in Lake Placid was cancelled. The season will be launched in Lillehammer, Norway, on the HS140 hill, with the grand finale taking place in Planica, Slovenia.
Ski Jumping World Cup – when did it start?
The start of the ski jumping season kicked off on Friday, 21st November 2025. The qualification round took place on that day, and individual competitions on November 22 and 23. After the inaugural competition, the jumpers moved to the city of Falun in central Sweden.
The World Cup final, where the overall winner will be awarded the Crystal Globe, is scheduled to take place on the last weekend of March.

Key competition principles
Although the most important rules of the Ski Jumping World Cup have not changed for years, it is worth recalling them.
1. The goal of the competition: participants compete to score as many points as possible. The points are recorded in the Ski Jumping World Cup standings.
2. Qualification round: precedes the main competition event. It is usually held the day before the competition. Top 10 ski jumpers of the World Cup standings do not need to qualify. Top 50 athletes advance to the main competition.
3. Competition event types:
-
Individual - the most common type of competition event.
-
Team - each country’s team consisting of 4 representing athletes compete in it.
-
Mixed team - this competition involves male and female teams.
-
Two-person team - pairs of jumpers from each country compete in them.
4. Competition course: each individual competition event consists of 2 stages. 50 athletes participate in the first round, with the top 30 jumpers advancing to the next one. Points from both rounds add up.
5. Scoring: athletes receive 100 points for placing first, 80 for the second place and 60 for the third spot. Points are awarded up to 30th place.
6. Scoring system: each jump is evaluated according to two criteria - distance and style. In the case of unfavourable weather conditions, the judges employ scoring compensation.
7. Standings: within the World Cup, athletes compete for the Crystal Globe awarded to the jumper with the most points in the cup standings. In addition to this, the national team with the highest amount of points scored by all its members during the season is awarded the Nations Cup. Ski flying standings are calculated separately, and its leader is awarded the so-called small Crystal Globe. Points earned in ski flying also count towards the general World Cup standings.
